Jerry’s practice involves the representation of individuals, business organizations, and associations in a wide variety of transactions, including ground leasing, office building and shopping center leasing, acquisitions and sales, financing, construction matters, and related corporate and partnership matters.

Client Work

Jerry is chair of the firm’s leasing practice and has extensive experience in representing office building owners and tenants in lease negotiations and regularly represents national and regional retail companies in commercial lease transactions. He also focuses his real estate practice on acquisitions and sales of all types of commercial properties, including office buildings, shopping centers, industrial buildings, hotels, and skilled nursing facilities.

Transactions on which Jerry has recently worked include:

  • Representing The Brooklyn Nets in connection with their 110,000 square foot training facility/headquarters in Industry City, Brooklyn, New York
  • Representing Extended Stay Hotels in connection with its acquisition and development of more than 50 hotel sites in the northeastern United States

  • Representing a recognized DC-based financial institution in connection with major office building leases in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas comprising more than 1,000,000 square feet of space

Jerry has written a number of articles in trade publications and frequently speaks to industry groups on a variety of real estate law issues.

Jerry has also been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America (2009-2018).

Life Beyond the Law

Jerry is married, has three children, and on weekends enjoys trying to improve his golf game. His two oldest children graduated from the University of Wisconsin and Penn State University, respectively, and his youngest now attends the University of Michigan – so “Big 10” rivalries are not uncommon during football and basketball seasons – with mom and dad remaining “neutral.” Jerry is a past member of the board of directors of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington.
