Sean’s experience includes representation of lenders and credit enhancers, nonprofits, and developers, underwriters and trustees. He is an active member of the firm’s nonprofit finance practice, which includes representation in approximately 80 percent of such transactions done in the District of Columbia.

Sean co-chairs the firm’s Nonprofits & Associations Industry Group.

Client Work

Sean assists numerous large and small nonprofits with their various business needs, making available to his clients the vast expertise housed at ArentFox Schiff. He has represented borrowers and lenders with regard to the negotiation and drafting of loan agreements, reimbursement agreements, letters of credit, standby commitments, participations, confirmations, and mortgage and security documents. He has also represented numerous financial institutions in the development of loan programs oriented to the nonprofit sector. Sean also has experience representing clients in the areas of real estate, housing, non-profit, and educational, medical, cultural and energy facilities.

Publications, Presentations & Recognitions

Sean has been published in The Bond Buyer newspaper and has served as a Lecturer for the Government Development Finance Association and National Business Officers Association and as an Ethics Panelist for the National Association of Bond Lawyers. Sean served as Chairperson of the State of Maryland General Assembly Compensation Commission from 2009- 2014, and has been a Commissioner on the Maryland Industrial Development Financing Authority since 2008. In 2017, he received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Catholic Business Network of Maryland. In 1994, he received the People’s Pro Bono Award from the Maryland State Bar Association.
