The ArentFox Schiff Center for Racial Equity

Please join Senator Doug Jones, ArentFox Schiff Counsel and author of Bending Toward Justice*, and the ArentFox Schiff Center for Racial Equity, on September 21, for a compelling inside perspective on the civil rights history of the 1963 Sixteenth Street Baptist Church Bombing.

While serving as United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama from 1997-2001, Senator Jones successfully prosecuted two former Ku Klux Klansmen responsible for the bombing that killed four young girls. Using videos, photographs and an audio undercover tape recording, Senator Jones will provide a history of the bombing and an insiders account of the investigation and trials that finally brought full justice and healing nearly 40 years after the attack.

Additionally, the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church will be holding the 60th commemoration of the church bombing on Friday, September 15th at 9:30 AM CT with US Supreme Court Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. The event will be held at the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.
