Post-Mortem Planning Techniques

Partner Tom Abendroth and his co-presenter will explain the factors for deciding when to elect portability and review the advantages and disadvantages of QTIP and valuation elections, disclaimers, decanting, and judicial and nonjudicial relief. They will also discuss what issues the IRS focuses on in audits of estate tax returns and how to address them. How to fix mistakes that are not discovered until after the death of the testator will also be discussed.
