Michelle Marsh Quoted by Inside Counsel on Trademark Infringement Lawsuits

New York partner Michelle Marsh was recently quoted in an article by Inside Counsel that explores the trademark infringement lawsuits associated with the Oscars. 

The article discusses how designers can protect themselves and their creations against lesser known designer knock-offs.

Michelle suggested that “designers protect what can be protected before the piece gets on the red carpet and try to publicize it…”  She likens this ideology to similar issues in the music industry, “Taylor Swift got tremendous press for seeking trademark protection for certain of her song lyrics and it likely made infringers think twice…Imagine if the celebrity wearing your brand’s dress said, ‘Tonight I am wearing Prada and its design patent pending!”
