Montgomery Quoted on New York’s Climate Plan

Partner Jane Montgomery was quoted on a report by two policy groups recommending that New York state should consider implementing tax breaks and exemptions that reduce the cost of fossil fuels as part of the state’s ambitious plan to eliminate net carbon emissions by 2050.

Jane said that phasing out fossil fuels is the first step in lowering carbon emissions, but added that without assistance in the transition, allowing prices to rise for people still tethered to traditional gas and oil heat could have a regressive cost impact.
