Phil English Comments on Recent Spate of GOP Congressional Retirement Announcements in The Hill
Representative Pat Tiberi (R-OH) is the most recent Republican who has announced he will not seek another term and will instead move to the private sector. He is the seventh member of the House Ways and Means Committee to make such an announcement, with four (including Tiberi) retiring and three leaving Congress to run for governor.
While many point to the frustration with the contentious current political climate, Arent Fox senior government relations advisor and former Congressman Phil English (R-PA) takes a more optimistic view. “I think it actually helps the process,” he said. “It frees up members of the Ways and Means Committee to focus on tax reform,” instead of on re-election campaigns.
