Arent Fox Announces 2018 AF Fellows Class
WASHINGTON — Arent Fox LLP is pleased to announce its 2018 AF Fellows class, an initiative designed to help attorneys foster effective leadership skills and forge lasting relationships across the firm. This year’s class, the second group in an annual program that launched October 2017, includes 10 talented attorneys with diverse perspectives and experiences.
“Congratulations to this year’s AF Fellows Class,” said Partner M. Scott Peeler, who leads the AF Fellows Program. “We think this is a novel program within our industry for its holistic approach. We didn’t create a program that focuses on a particular aspect of leadership. Instead, we designed this to be a three-year program that will help our attorneys grow individually, build camaraderie, and protect one of Arent Fox’s greatest assets — its culture.”
Attorneys selected for the AF Fellows program include senior associates and recently promoted counsel and partners. As part of the program, the Fellows attend retreats, participate in seminars, identify key issues at the firm, and help develop strategies for addressing those challenges. The firm’s inaugural AF Fellows class recently completed its second-year retreat where it heard from many of the Firm’s key leaders and learned what it means to take a leadership role at Arent Fox.
“Our Fellows will learn effective leadership techniques and have the opportunity to make a difference at our firm,” said Firmwide Managing Partner Cristina A. Carvalho. “This is a unique program in our industry and I am confident that this class, along with our Fellows from last year, will help contribute to Arent Fox’s future success.”
The 2018 Fellows class includes Partners Lynn Fiorentino, Marwa Hassoun, and Tope Yusuf, and Associates Matthew Berlin, Alexander Birkhold, Sarah Cohn, Kirsten Hart, Diane Roldán, Alexander Spiegler, and Hillary Stemple.
In the second year of the program, AF Fellows will learn from current and former firm leaders about what it’s like to make management decisions at Arent Fox, strategies for overcoming challenges, and the importance of protecting a culture of inclusion and empowerment. In the final year, AF Fellows will identify a meaningful issue at the firm and suggest a strategy to improve it.
