Arent Fox Named Washington, DC’s Premier Trademark Firm for the Fourth Consecutive Year by World Trademark Review
Washington, DC — For the fourth consecutive year, Arent Fox LLP’s Intellectual Property group has been recognized as a leading trademark practice in Washington, DC by World Trademark Review. Arent Fox’s team of “widely acclaimed” lawyers is home to “high-caliber attorneys who excel across a broad range of work,” WTR noted, while naming the firm as one of only two in the DC-area to its highest tier.
In WTR’s “World Trademark Review 1000 2014,” the publication reported that the “firm’s strong corporate divisions bolster the IP department’s transactional capabilities, while its longstanding involvement in high-stakes litigation is a boon on complicated cross-border disputes.” In addition, the publication named partner Anthony V. Lupo “one of the best practitioners on the East Coast,” cited partner Michael A. Grow for his “remarkable prowess,” and credited partner N. Christopher Norton as an industry leader for his “familiarity with US and overseas law,” which allows him to “see the big picture.” All three attorneys were rated as leading lawyers in the trademark industry.
In singling out Mr. Lupo, WTR wrote that he is “noted as a top-tier counsel in both the contentious and non-contentious domains.” Mr. Lupo has a diverse intellectual property practice that operates at the intersection of e-commerce, fashion, and media and entertainment. He serves as strategic counselor to leading companies in those industries on trademark, entertainment, and copyright issues.
WTR reported that Mr. Grow is a “business-minded advocate” who is “internationally recognized” for his work on trademark and copyright litigation, while representing many leading entertainment companies and manufacturers. He also has served as a member of the board of directors and executive committee for the International Trademark Association.
Mr. Norton works with clients of all sizes on domestic and global brand protection issues that WTR said “earns him notice from European and South American” clients. He is frequently engaged to develop trademark portfolio management strategies for companies outgrowing their in-house capabilities. Among his clients are world leaders in the hospitality, telecommunications, health care, and medical supply industries.
Arent Fox features one of the most highly regarded Trademark groups in the country and provides clients with a full range of services, including: litigation, prosecution, licensing, and other transactional work. The firm is known for developing brand selection strategies; analyzing and assessing brand adoption risks; protecting new brands; formulating consistent trademark usage standards; and protecting marks against infringement, dilution, and misuse.
WTR provides a “Gold” band to firms and attorneys who prove to be the “crème de la crème.” The recognition “hinges on reputations established over lengthy periods of time,” which enables the “Gold” band firms to “secure the most high-profile, big-ticket work from the most demanding of clients.” WTR is the only standalone publication to recommend individual practitioners and their firms exclusively in the area of trademarks. Ratings are based on extensive interviews with industry leading clients, lawyers, and law firms. Inclusion in the directory is determined through a rigorous vetting process.
