Arent Fox Senior Advisor Phil English Named Co-Chair of ITIF Board
Washington, DC — On September 26, former Rep. Philip English, a senior advisor in the Government Relations practice at Arent Fox, was named co-chair of the board of directors of The Information Technology & Innovation Foundation, a non-profit, non-partisan think tank whose mission is to formulate and promote public policies to advance technological innovation and productivity.
“I am excited to be part of the ITIF team,” said Mr. English, who served in the US House of Representatives for 14 years. “The foundation is a leader on tax, trade, and tech policies and has pointed the way for strengthening the country’s economy and encouraging sunrise investments of tomorrow.” Mr. English is replacing former Congresswoman Nancy Johnson and will co-chair the ITIF board with Vic Fazio, a former Congressman from California.
“Over his long career in public service, Phil has been a strong advocate for innovation-centric policies that promote competitiveness, job growth and economic development,” said ITIF President Robert Atkinson. “We are extremely pleased to have him join the board as co-chair and look forward to utilizing his experience and expertise as we continue to grow as an organization.”
While in Congress, Mr. English served as a member of the Congressional Joint Economic Committee, the House Ways and Means Committee and the Congressional representative to the President’s Export Council, and was a legislative leader in the areas of tax, energy, and trade policy. After leaving Congress, Mr. English served as a member of the United States National Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which advises the US State Department on educational, scientific, cultural, and communications issues.
