Featured Panelist Philip English Discusses Manufacturing and Trade at Aspen Institute Summit
Washington, DC — Former Rep. Philip S. English, a 14-year member of the House Ways & Means Committee and a veteran of several successful efforts to pass Free Trade Agreements, served as moderator for a panel at the Aspen Institute’s International Business Summit on the US-EU Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.
The panel of leading CEOs focused on investment opportunities and international business issues that could position American exports for greater access to Europe’s highly developed markets. It has been estimated that the agreement could create two million jobs while generating hundreds of billions of dollars for the US and EU economies.
“The potential for a trade agreement will strengthen the hand of the developed world to protect its competitive strengths and continue to encourage innovation,” said Mr. English, a Senior Government Relations Advisor at Arent Fox.
Mr. English served on the Trade Subcommittee and a member of the President’s Export Council. He was also a Congressional Representative to the World Trade Organization Ministerial Meetings and Advisor to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Congressional Leadership Group.
Throughout his career, Mr. English has been a noted advocate of public diplomacy and America’s role in world affairs. He served as co-chair of the House European Union Caucus, the House Brazil Caucus, the House Morocco Caucus, the House Swiss Caucus, and the House World Bank Caucus.
Arent Fox’s Government Relations practice is one of the nation’s most experienced, effective, and respected lobbying organizations. The group represents clients before government entities on the federal, state, and local levels to help them achieve their public policy goals.
