Schiff Hardin Achieves Mansfield Certification for Second Consecutive Year
Schiff Hardin LLP is proud to announce the firm has achieved Mansfield Certified Plus status for 2020. This recognition demonstrates our continuing commitment to increasing diversity within the firm’s leadership ranks.
To achieve Certified Plus status, Schiff considered at least 30 percent women, LGBTQ+, lawyers of color, and lawyers with disabilities for leadership positions and senior-level recruiting over the past year, and also had at least 30 percent women and minorities in a large number of key leadership roles and with lateral hires.
“We are pleased to be Mansfield Certified Plus again this year,” said Chief Talent Officer Jill Attkisson. “The Diversity Lab is showing law firms that the only way to hire and promote people who have been underrepresented is to focus on increasing the pool of candidates they consider. The Mansfield program makes us accountable for our actions and will make our firm and others more diverse. We are grateful for the recognition of our efforts and commit to accelerating our work going forward.”
Schiff also achieved Certified Plus status in 2019, one of only 65 firms to participate in Diversity Lab’s Mansfield 2.0 program, and the firm recently announced its participation in the 4.0 program.
Named for Arabella Mansfield, the first woman admitted to practice law in the United States, the Mansfield Rule was conceived through the Diversity Lab’s inaugural 2016 Women in Law Hackathon, a national competition that brought in-house and private practice lawyers together to brainstorm solutions to law firm diversity challenges.
