Three Schiff Hardin Partners Named Among Crain’s Chicago Notable Women in Law

Managing Partner Marci Eisenstein, Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group Deputy Leader Maggie Hickey, and Construction Law Group Deputy Leader Heidi Rowe have been named to the 2020 Notable Women in Law list by Crain’s Chicago Business, which distinguishes female attorney leaders who have made significant contributions to their industry in the past 18 months.

This is the first time Heidi has been recognized on the list. Marci and Maggie were previously named in 2018.

To earn this recognition, attorneys must have demonstrated the ability to affect change in their role or area of practice and have served as a role model or mentor to other female attorneys.

In 2015, Marci was elected managing partner, the first woman to hold that role in Schiff Hardin’s 150-year history. In addition to serving as a mentor for associates and partners, she was also a founding member and chair of Schiff’s Diversity Committee. Marci is a longtime member of the Illinois chapter of JDRF, the world’s leading organization for type 1 diabetes research funding.

As the former Illinois Executive Inspector General, Maggie spent many years in government and public service spanning both Springfield, Ill., and Washington, D.C. In 2019, she was selected as the independent monitor to oversee implementation of the multi-year consent decree outlining reforms for the Chicago Police Department. She was also tapped to conduct high-profile investigations regarding sexual misconduct allegations in the Illinois House of Representatives and Chicago Public Schools. Maggie served on the board of directors of the now-defunct Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago, and is active with the Oak Park Infant Welfare Society.

Heidi negotiates more than $1 billion annually in design and construction contracts. She represents REITs and other project owners, developers, and design professionals in managing construction-related risks for high-value projects. Heidi has worked on some of the nation’s most high-profile projects, including the “re-skinning” of the Time-Life building, and the current One Wall Street conversion in New York. Heidi is a former co-chair of Schiff’s clinic with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, and is active with the Filipino American Bar Association of Chicago, the Chicago Bar Association, the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys, and the American Bar Association Section of Litigation’s Forum Committee on the Construction Industry.
