Florida’s New Life Settlement Law Could Harm Market
New York attorney Eric Biderman recently spoke with The Deal about an article regarding Florida’s new settlement law. While the new law has been praised by the market’s largest trade group as a victory for consumers, many believe that it may actually be hurting the market.
Eric believes that the impact of the law will come down to how the state’s insurance regulator interprets it when it drafts regulations. He said, “It’s not a good bill for the life settlement industry. It certainly will restrict the market. It will give them pause. I think the intention was to weed out the bad actors, buy you may sweet up the good actors.”
